ga4@modelun.ruMy dear beloved delegates, I am honoured to greet you as a President of the United Nations General Assembly Fourth Committee! It is time to open new horizons, plugging into the world of Diplomacy and International Relations
Our model is a great chance for you to try your best, and find new people whom you can share your ideas with!
There is also one another important thing: during the event, you try out different roles. As a delegate, as an expert, as a chairperson, as an organiser, a journalist, etc. You represent the ‘strongest ones’ having red and blue coloured flag with the stars on it. You also can be a representative of the “not so strongest ones” and still have a red-blue coloured flag… with the stars on it. So, are there so many differences between us? After all, we are all the same. We are United.
Apply for 4GA and spent a fruitul and working time with us!
Sincerely yours,
President of the 4th General Assembly Committee
Farida Akhmedova

Distinguished delegates,
Welcome to the 4th Committee of the General Assembly on the issue of Western Sahara. The topic of our session is an arduous one, and we all know that this cumbersome issue has been on the agenda of international politics for many years. We will face conflicting opinions and difficult dilemmas that are yet to be resolved.
But it is precisely for this reason that I have high hopes for you, for your professionalism, restraint and patience. I am confident that you will demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues and will be able to conduct dialogue with respect for the positions of all participants.
You’ll have a unique opportunity to become part of the solution to global problems, to voice your ideas and demonstrate that even in the most difficult situations, constructive dialogue and the search for compromise are possible.
I wish you success, productive discussions and an unforgettable experience.
Sincerely,
Artiom Perciun

Distinguished delegates,
After you’ve successfully passed your interview and the review of your essays comes the second and the most essential part of your journey.
Country’s position is a document that mirrors your country’s stance on the matter of our committee. The essence of this document doesn’t reflect your personal opinion on the agenda. From now on you should speak in one voice as the delegation that represents a country with specific goals, ideas and relations in the multilateral world.
This document should be comprised of the three pivotal parts:
- Your country’s unique understanding of the issue being discussed.
- Your country’s previous stance on the topic (preferably with relevant examples).
- The policies and ideas that your country would like to see included in the resolution.
All information must be confirmed with an official and trustworthy source that is accessible and comprehensible. Wikipedia is considered an unreliable source, thus is prohibited.
In order to ensure the proper description of your country’s position you may also utilize a guideline consisting of various questions that you should answer in this document.
Make sure your position addresses the following questions:
– How is the history of your country or organization related to the agenda item?
– What is its policy on this issue, and what are the justifications behind it?
– What actions is your government or organization taking? What agreements or resolutions have been ratified or signed?
– What does your country or organization believe needs to be done to resolve the issue?
– What will your country or organization aim for in the final resolution, and how might your position change under the influence of other states?
– What is more, keep in mind to ensure the formal outer appearance of your text. Here are main requirements:
– Font Times New Roman 14
– One and a half spacing
– 400-500 words
As for requirements – that’s it. Good luck and see you at the Model!
