unwto@modelun.ruDistinguished delegates, honored guests, friends,
On behalf of the President of the Committee, I would like to welcome you in UNWTO.
Our agenda today is one that touches every country represented in this room: ensuring universal access to cultural heritage and cultural tourism as a factor of sustainable development.
Tourism built around culture can be one of the most powerful engines of development we have. It creates jobs. It keeps traditions alive. It gives communities a reason – and the means – to protect what they have inherited. But only if it is done thoughtfully.
I wish you productive debate, ambitious ideas, but also the patience to turn them into language that works in the real world and I wish you good company. Some of the most valuable conversations at conferences like this one happen in the hallways, over coffee, between the formal sessions.
With the best expectations,
President of UN Tourism
Maria Tatsiy
Dear Delegates,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the UNWTO Committee!
As your Co-President, I am truly excited to meet all of you and look forward to the discussions, ideas, and perspectives you will bring to our sessions.
I sincerely hope that our time together will be both productive and enjoyable, filled with meaningful debates, fruitful cooperation, and memorable moments.
I wish you all a successful and inspiring Model, and I am confident that together we will create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for everyone.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
Best regards,
Co-President of the UN Tourism Committee
Victoria Agryzkova
Honorable delegates,
I am glad to welcome you to UN Tourism at C-MIMUN’27!
Cultural tourism is a powerful force. It can breathe life into local economies and protect centuries-old traditions. However, it can also destroy the very heritage it depends on, and millions of people still face barriers to experiencing it.
Our task is to find that right balance. You will need to build bridges between preserving the past and opening it to the world. I have no doubt that your energy, fresh ideas and willingness to collaborate will lead us to truly meaningful solutions.
Do not be afraid to think boldly. I am truly excited to see the ideas you will bring to the table and to witness the diplomacy you will show in the coming days. I wish you productive debates, brilliant speeches and an unforgettable experience!
Sincerely,
Expert of UN Tourism
Maria Kuts
Dear delegates,
On behalf of the Expert of the UN Tourism Committee, I am pleased to meet you on the margins of the Churkin UN Model-2027!
This year, we are working on one of the most pressing and fascinating agendas of our time – Cultural Tourism and its impact on Sustainable Development. These two fields have more in common than we are used to thinking. When examined more closely, cultural tourism is clearly one of the strongest drivers of global sustainable development, while the sustainable development of the regions stimulates tourist flows. Thus, they are inextricably linked and the challenges of one field affect the other. So our mission includes solving this interesting paradox – how to ensure that cultural tourism and sustainable development are mutually reinforcing.
I am sure our Committee will find non-standard and innovative solutions that the real UN lacks and you will have ideas and plans on how to make our World more inclusive, resilient and sustainable. Good luck to you in this complex task!
With respect,
Expert of UN Tourism
Violetta Shevchenko
The registration questions are not an exam, and we are not testing how many dates or statistics you have memorized. We simply want to see how you think, what motivates you and whether you can construct a clear argument.
Please note the following requirements. You will be asked to answer 5 questions. For each question, provide a brief answer consisting of 3-6 sentences. There is no minimum word count, so focus on the quality of your thoughts rather than the length of the text.
Here are a few general tips on how to approach the form:
- Be honest about your motivations. When explaining your choice of committee or your views on the agenda, do not just write general statements like “it is interesting”. Tell us what actually caught your attention. Genuine enthusiasm always stands out.
- Show that you see the complexity. Our agenda does not have simple answers. When you discuss the main problem or propose a solution, show that you understand the dilemma from multiple sides. Acknowledge the drawbacks of your own ideas before you defend them.
- Rely on the materials we provide. Use the Expert Report as your foundation. If you refer to specific concepts from the text, it shows your familiarity with the topic.
- Structure your answers. Within those 3-6 sentences, try to follow a simple logic: state your point, support it with a brief argument, and draw a conclusion.
- Check your language. Since our committee works entirely in English, make sure your grammar and vocabulary allow you to express your thoughts clearly. You do not need to be perfect, but we need to know that you can communicate your ideas.
We are looking forward to reading your responses. Do not be afraid to think boldly and speak from the heart. Good luck with your registration!
А country position is an official paper in which a delegate reveals the country’s view and opinion on the agenda of the committee. The position must include the country’s interests, the country’s strategy regarding the issue under consideration, and, of course, proposals for solving the task at hand. The country position should help other delegates understand the logic of your country within the framework of the agenda. Be creative and do not be afraid to propose bold solutions!
Requirements for writing a position:
– The length should be 1,5-2 pages, Times New Roman, 14 pt, 1.5 spacing. Your task is to fit the entire position of the country you represent into a short speech.
– The working language of the UN Tourists committee is English, so the position must be written in English.
– Structurally, the position must include a greeting to other delegates (using a greeting in the language of the country you represent is encouraged), a brief statement of the country’s attitude toward the problem under consideration, what the country is already doing to solve the problem, and recommendations for solving the problem. How to write a position?
– Carefully read the experts’ report.
– Study the official position of your country as your speech must be politically calibrated.
– Study previous decisions of the committee within the current agenda.Good luck with your work!
